West Paterson, New Jersey Speed Traps
McBride Avenue near Rte. 80 overpass Crossing
Police frequently park in a number of spots near or under this overpass. This trap is most dangerous in the southbound direction because you are coming downhill. Also, since this road is business as opposed to residential there is a natural inclination to "forget" that EVERY ROAD in West Paterson is posted 25MPH.
Rifle Camp Road near Mt. Pleasant Avenue
The West Paterson Police love hiding in the firehouse driveway directly across the street from the 7-11 store and Bromilows Chocolate store. Between the design of the fire station and the landscaping, it is very easy for the locals to catch people coasting down the hill in excess of 25 MPH.
Squirrelwood Road near Glover Street
This intersection is located off the Rt 80 West Exit #56 and both Paterson and West Paterson Police hide across from the ramp. Also, beginning or end of the month this becomes a major check point for expired registrations and car inspections. Be Careful!
Rifle Camp Road near Mountain Avenue
Town police are usually visible on the county park side of the road, but Sheriff Dept. officers hide behind gas station sign or are not visible at the Taylor Lane condo entrance. Sheriff officers are usually in 3’s or 4’s and on motorcycles or horses with a hand held radar gun.
Lackawanna Road near Between McBride and Browertown Road
both west paterson police and the passaic county sheriffs officers take turn setting up this trap all too often
