Whitehouse Station, New Jersey Speed Traps
Old Route 28 and Route 22 westbound
Facing westbound traffic, near firestation, there was a speed trap 4/27 in the parking lot facing east for people coming off of Rt 22 westbound. Multiple people at the firestation say they’ve been stopped there, so it is periodic.
County Trunk county Rt 523 near Interstate Route 78
This trap is located on the border of Tewksbury Township and Whitehouse Station which is a part of Readington Twp. Heading south from exit 24 off Interstate 78, which has signs designating it as a food and fuel rest stop, the Tewksbury Police sit right at the bottom of the exit. It is not a speed trap, but any infraction like a tail light, particularly with out of state plates will be pulled over. While I cannot verify racial profiling, I will say that if you ever have the pleasure of visiting the Tewksbury municipal court, as I have, the house will be packed 90% by people of color although Tewksbury is 99% high income white.
If you make it past the exit and head south, the speed limit is a reasonable 50mph and goes to 2 lanes for about 1/4 mile at the entrance to Merck Pharm. headquarters. Here the Readington cops are frequently setup with speed traps in dark gray semi – marked cars. While they will nail you, if your not a local, they are not as brutal and unreasonable.

When going south on Rt 532, highway 78 bridge blocks the sight of traffic light, as well as a cop sitting in the parking lot of a small turn-off lane on your right. Do not beat the light, nor speed through it!
