Albany, New York Speed Traps
US Highway I90 near Exit Number 11
Trooper sits on on ramp East bound Right hand side as your heading East Between Exit 10-11
Interstate 787 near Exit Number 6
State trooper patrols just around sharp corners, and uses bridges and overpasses to cover his location. The speed limit is 55 MPH, but don’t ever let your needle go past 60 MPH.
Washington extension Avenue near Jermain Avenue
The Albany City Police sit in a car on the south side of Washington Ave. Extension at night. They point their speed gun westward, at cars coming eastward, toward them. It’s a great speed trap, since their cop car canNOT be seen in the dark at 8 to 12 p.m. The speed limit is strictly 30 mph, but other traffic pressures innocents to prevent being rear ended. Do not let intimidation get you! Slow down! Go under 30 mph or less. It’s a dirty cash machine, courtesy of Albany’s police, that’ll get someone!
Western Avenue near Brevator Street
Speed limit is 30 MPH, but general traffic speed in 40-42 MPH. Cars going over 45 MPH, even for a short stretch are at high risk any time of day all along Western and continuing downtown on Madison Avenue by both marked and unmarked cars. Also, plenty of tickets (and crashes) for pushing red lights on this same stretch or road.
Interstate I787 near everett Road
on I 787, west bound, far right side, is a NYS state police car. it’s under the bridge, that is everett rd. the car is pointed westward, is marked, and hidden way off the shoulder – on the right side in a gulley. it’s impossible to suspect, or see – but a good radar detector gave it away. look out at 9 to 10 a.m. weekdays!
