Beacon, New York Speed Traps
State Route RT 52
The cops both state troppers and Beacon police park in the car dealerships at night waiting for someone to come by checking to see if they just came from the bar down the road or are speeding.
State Route Rt 9d
The Beacon police sit in the fire house parking lot on 9d or in the parking lot of Southern Dutchess country Club. SDCC usually at night or better yet, parked on the sidewalk after Verblank.
Matteawan Road near Wilkes Street
A cop likes to sit on the one way road along Matteawan Rd. (called Cannon St.) and (mainly) targets high school students during school hours. He waits for drivers to turn right onto Matteawan from Wilkes St and catches people around that turn until the stop sign there. He also hopes for drivers to blow off that sign. The speed limit there is 15 and he is known for stopping people at 35+ mph to the best of my knowlege. He also has done it for a full week and has pulled over 7+ people in a week.
Washington Avenue near Liberty Street
A cop loves to sit on both sides of Washington Ave at the intersection with Liberty St. He sits either in the entrance to the cemetary or on the other side by the trees. I’ve seen him watching both directions but tends to wait for people coming down the hill close to the intersection.
