Bronx, New York Speed Traps
I-95 from Westchester County line to Throggs Neck Bridge
Stationery unmarked cars using radar; vehicles are Fords – black, gold & maroon and now they are even using a fake Ford NYC taxicab with all the markings – canary yellow
Rosedale Ave Exit from Cross Bronx Expressway
When exiting Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95 heading towards the Geo. Washington Bridge) at the Rosedale Avenue exit (Exit 4) you enter the service road and there is a stoplight. Do NOT run this light – even if it is yellow. It is timed to turn red very quickly and you are being photographed as you cross the intersection in 1/100 second intervals. Your license place will be cross checked and you will receive a summons by mail. You will be invited to appear in court in the Bronx to challenge the ticket or pay $50 to close the case and accept a guilty plea. If you accept the plea there will be no points assigned against your license.
Both my father-in-law and myself have been caught here.
Hutchinson River Parkway (near Whitstone Bridge approach)
Southbound Hutchinson River Parkway. NYPD HWY#1 have brand new unmarked Crown Victorias (I’ve seen red, black and silver) that sit on the right side of the road near the over pass that’s just before the Cross Bronx / Whiestone Bridge Split. They have Lidar & Radar in use. Hard to spot. Also, NYS MTA Police troll the area in marked "slicks" (No lightbar on top, hidden strobes)
Henry Hudson Pkwy South by Dyckman Exit and H.Hudson Pkwy service ramp under G.W.Bridge
Waiting by Dyckman exit and entrance ramp on the Henry Hudson Pkwy right before it turns from 40 to 50 M.P.H. Also right under the G.W. Bridge serivce ramp South bound on Henry Hudson Pkwy. NYPD highway patrol uses the unfair practice of "visual approximation" to determine which car they feel was hit by their radar.
Henry Hudson Parkway
As you approach the toll bridge from the south bound side you go into the lower level of the bridge. On your left there is a small area where a white DOT exploror sits and waits. blocked by the bridge they gun you and radio to an unmarked maroon crown victoria with dark tinted windows who nabs you at or after the toll. on the north bound side there is construction just before the toll, at the end of the construction the same DOT explorer sits on the right behind some construction dividers and radios his buddy in the maroon crown vic. I saw them there one friday when I drove past at 6:30pm and on the southbound 3 hours later still at it.
