Depew, New York Speed Traps
Warner Road and Wayside (bottom of the hill)
At the bottom of the steep part of the Warner Road hill, the speed limit drops to 30 mph (once you cross the Depew line). Add the drop in the speed limit along with gravity naturally raising your speed and you have the perfect storm for Depew’s finest to ticket you. I often see the Depew police parked on Wayside and pulling people over as they race by.
Transit Rd. (NY-78 ) at Terrace Blvd.
Depew’s finest will normally sit in the parking lot of Ace Flag company checking speed on Transit Rd which is in their 30 mile per hour gauntlet. They also will ticket vehicles that pass under the light during Any portion of the yellow cycle. Best be sure the light is still green after you pass!!!!
Transit Road near Walden Avenue
Transit Road is ranges from 45-55 MPH throughout its lenght, except for the 3 miles or so that are through the village of Depew, where it drops down to 30 MPH in a highly commercial or completely unoccupied section of road. Not residential at all…
George Urban Boulevard east of Dick Road
Village of Depew. It seems like there is always an officer parked in the parking lot of the fire house or the Midas Station just waiting for someone to drive faster then the speed limit. It is rumored that he has ticketed for as little as 5 miles over the limit.
George Urban Boulevard near Volunteer Firehouse
The Depew police sit in the parking lot of the Volunteer Firehouse across from the Cortese Plaza. They usually are there when the traffic light at the driveway at Quebecor is a flashing yellow for George Urban traffic. They pull over so many people that I think the village gets half of their revenue from the tickets written here!
