Hyde Park, New York Speed Traps
Rte. 9G Violet Ave. School
The speed limit drops from 35 to 20 MPH in front of the Violet Ave. School when a yellow light is blinking over the sign during school hours. The sign is nearly hidden in the spring by new foliage and in the Fall when the school opens. The police car will be sitting in the parking lot of a volunteer fire department just north of the school.
State Highway 9 near St Andrews Road
As you pass the Culinary institute traveling up the hill North bound towards Hyde Park, right before the traffic light at St Andrews Rd there is a storage place on the right side of the road at the entrance to the storage a officer will sometimes stand with a gun looking southbound as cars come up the hill, the speed limit is 45 mph but you can easily reach 50-55 mph with the incline. If you look carefully you can sometimes see the reflection from the lens of the gun but it’s best just to be aware and watch you speed.
Route 9, just north of the Culinary Institute
The speed limit is 45 along this stretch of road, but southbound traffic going downhill can easily clear 55 right at the point where you’ll spot the officer, sitting there on the median.
Rt 9 North or South at the storage place by the easy street light
Hyde Park town clowns sit at the storage center and hand out tickets. The speed limit is 45 (what a joke)on a long, straight, new road. Then you have to go to the town court and plea to a lower charge anyway (must be the money)..
