Kinderhook, New York Speed Traps
Kinderhook and Valatie, New York
Cops wait in the parking lot of the Kinderhook Fire Department on Route 9, where the speed limit is 35 mph. It’s very easy to gain speed downhill as you head north on Route 9. Cops also wait on the southbound exit ramp off Route 9H to Route 9. They pull way over to the left, and are impossible to see at night. Cops also wait at the top of Hudson Street, County Road 21, near Sylvester Street, where the speed limit drops to 25 mph. Giving traffic tickets is an industry in this town.
Rte 9
Speed limit through Valatie and Kinderhook is extremely low, whole town is a speed trap. The worst place is probably entering the village of Valatie, right before the 9W underpass – the cop waits on the grass there after dark. You don’t see him until it’s too late. You can get nabbed for going as little as 5 miles over the limit. Heck, I was once pulled over and warned for going 3 – yes, THREE – miles over. I was going 38 miles per hour, and the limit’s 35 all through town.
