Massapequa, New York Speed Traps
Jeruselem Avenue near Hicksville Road
Jeruselem Ave. going West by the school just before Hicksville Road. Every so often they have a policeman on a motorcycle with a speed gun right in the center of the school speed zone. The usual speed is 35mph and then the length of the school is 25mph. Usually during school days, during the day.
Merrick Road near Merrick Road
At nightime, generally around 11pm-12am, there is a cop hiding in St. Rose of Lima Church parking lot. They usually have their lights off, but not always. The patrol car is very difficult to see if you are heading westbound.
Park Boulevard near State Highway Sunrise 27A
Between Sunrise Hwy and Merrick Road. Occasional speed trap using radar. Beware the area near where the road curves!
Old Sunrise Hwy from Carmens Mill Rd to Countyline Rd
Local county cops dragnet this 1/2 mile strip with radar on one end and officers in the road pulling you over. 30mph limit and anything near 35 will get you pulled over in batches. Pathetic, really.
Carmans Road at Boces School
Trap is at a Boces School right before Sunrise Mall on Carmans Road. They radar EVERYONE that drives by. If your going over 35, you’ll get a speeding ticket. I got one for going 40. Usually marked police cars, sometimes a blue car.
