Mayfield, New York Speed Traps
State Highway Route 30 near School Street
This is an area of 45 mph on an ‘open stretch’ of the State Route. In the very center of this area, directly across from School Street, is the Mayfield Substation of the New York State Police. They have been known to sit in their cars and tag drivers in both directions! You never know when they are actually doing it, as there are usually several State Police vehicles in the parking lot!
State Route 30 near State Route 30A
This is a ‘sly’ one! Travelling NORTH or SOUTH on Route 30 you are travelling at 55mph. There is a ‘sudden drop’ to 45mph. What sets square in the middle of this 1 mile stretch of road?? The NEW YORK STATE POLICE SUB-STATION. They will literally sit in their own parking lot and shoot radar BOTH WAYS. Even ‘locals’ get nabbed, because we’re so used to seeing the Police Cars there! Sneeeeeeky!
Route 30a
1/2 mile south of intersection of route 30 in a pull over area.
