Middletown, New York Speed Traps
Interstate 84 near Mile Marker 8
When you come into New York State from Pennsilvania you will come into a series of down grades. Just before you get to MM 7 or 8 ley off the gas. The Trooper sits on the inside of the right hand turn. When you see him its too late.
Interstate 84 near No U-Turn
I’ve seen them in just about every No U-Turn exit going West to Middletown on 84, coming on from exit 5. It seems they monitor those coming From middletown to Exit 5 more than those going to middletown. Just look ahead during the day for shiny glimmers (they hide in some cut trails in the woods on the median, too) because their cars are reflective off the sun. If it’s night, stay to the right lane. etc, etc. Also, they seem to be out more during the night than during the day.
Interstate 84 East near Exit Number 3
I drive a route along I-84 everyday from Middletown, NY into just over the border in PA. Speed enforcement is relatively low, but NYSP have a high probability of nailing you when set up in the service median right before exit 3 in the eastbound direction. Ka band is the weapon of choice, but visibility is very limited for most of the service medians between exit 2 and 3 until you ae right up on them.
State Route 17M near Exit Number 3W
The stretch along 17M through town (approximitely 1.5 miles after exit 3W Middletown exit, starting at the first traffic light) is occasionally heavily patrolled by state troopers looking to catch anybody out of the norm, to include speeding.
