State Highway Rt. 9N, South Main Street near Champ Sighting Sign
State or local police set up by the champ sighting sign and shoot radar in both directions.
State Highway 9N/22 near Whitney Street
Two Part trap, within eyesight of each other… Heading north into the village of Port Henry, speed limit drops from 55 to 30. Pass a Citgo station and the trap is on the leFort The locals and staties like to sit in the dark parking lot of a bait shop. Not so much clocking northbound as south.
Second part of the trap is at the top of the next his, once again facing southbound traffic. State police sit here. You never see either of these traps. VERY sneaky. Also, the court in this town is crazy. Expect to hear this: "I will reduce the charge, but charge you the maximum fine."
Can you say legal extortion? Be careful in this village.
State Route 9N/22, just inside village limits
small pull off on the east side of the highway, speed is posted 30mph. Very unrealistic as the zone goes almost 2.5 miles through the village. Almost always either a State Trooper, county sheriff or local police parked there. Can be either clocking traffic north or southbound. Southbound traffic has no warning because they are coming over a small rise, northbound has very little warning as they are rounding a corner into the short straightaway. Local police will allow 35-40mph. State Troopers and Sheriffs will allow nothing. They will pull you over for ANYTHING!
New York Route 9N/22- 2 miles from village
This area is a small straightaway before entering the village limits or the corners heading south towards Crown Point, NY. This area is notorious for roadblocks were the State Police and local police check cars for seatbelt violations, equipment violations, or just have an excuse to poke around your vehicle and license. AVOID this area during the middle and end of the month.
