Port Washington, New York Speed Traps
West Shore Road near Bar Beach Park
Many places to hide on this stretch, with a posted of either 35 or 45
Port Washington Boulevard near 495 – LIE Expressway
Heading past Christopher Morley Park on Rt 101 (Searingtown Road / Port Washington Blvd) betweem the Americana (Miracle Mile) and the LIE is a pretty big place for cops to hang out behind trees or in the parking lot of the Park. The speed limitd drops to 35mph and its long and open usually so the temptation to speed is big, becareful you could very easily get screwed here.
West Shore Rd./Beacon Hill
Whenever they have a Seatbelt check at the start of Beacon Hill Rd. they have patrol cars hiding waiting to pull speeders over before they get to the checkpoint right by Hempstead Harbor Beach etc., Beware, I received a 67 in a 45 going up the hill. Thought i was home free $120 not to bad but 2 years later I got a letter with 6 points on my license.
Beacon Hill Rd.
Travelling down Beacon Hill Rd (speed limit 25!?) local cops sit just around the corner on any of the well hidden side roads and flag down passing motorists (mostly during AM-PM rush) to issue speeding tickets for anything over 30 mph. This is completely unreasonable as it is a double-yellow lined road that is clearly wide enough to travel safely at speeds up to 35 mph. BEWARE! The local cops are the worst to deal with.
