Riverhead, New York Speed Traps

River Road use to be 45mph,,than changed to 30mph..Riverhead PD sets up a radar trap….and claim zero tolerance–no warnings because of "neighbor complaints" but few neighbors around. Easy to miss the signage.

The cop sits so far back in the parking lot that you don’t see him until it’s too late. Speed limity on Old Country Rd. ( Rt. 58) is 35 M.P.H.

Just 1.5 miles east of the I 495 off ramp exit 71 there is a cross over the median for a side street. as you travel around a sweeping left turn there is an open area of grass where the state police have been pulling radar. the speed limit is 55 average speed 70 I have seen the stateman there 6 times in the last 2 weeks between 4;00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The trees block any chance of slowing down in time

State trooper sits on the east bound side of the expressway behind the sign for exit 72. When you come over the hill around the bend, he has you before you ever see him. As we all know, the severely low speed limit on the expressway of 55 mph is nothing more than a money making scam for the state. Don’t let them line their pockets with any more of your hard earned money!

The area of concern is directly in front of the Riverhead Jail. A Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff is usually shooting Radar right as your rounding the bend towards the facility. The speed limit is also lowered to 40 prior to the bend. Although he was very proffesional, There is no pleading your case with these guys!
