Schroon Lake, New York Speed Traps
Exit 28 off I-87, heading East on Rt. 74 toward Ticonderoga
Trooper "blitz" Rt. 74 East, starting at the first stop sign at route 9 and continuing all the way to Ticonderoga. They take advantage of tourists heading toward the Champlain bridge heading to Vermont. A very minor "rolling" stop sign violation (1 mph) will cost you $225 dollars in Schroon Lake.
State Route 9
Troopers sit all times of day and night all through town just waiting to pull anyone over for any reason.
Interstate 87 near Exit Number 27
The towns revenues are probably based on this trap. $235 for minimal speeding is robbery.
I-87, N/B entrance ramp from exit 28
Since it is very dark on the ramp entering the Interstate, a State Trooper sitting off to the left side is virtually invisible until you are next to it. If you are already on the highway, you will not notice the car on the right at all, and he will come up behind you after clocking you with the radar.
