Charlotte, North Carolina Speed Traps
Rea Rd.
Normally, just one unit, lights off (usually at night), sitting in the center of Rea Rd. just past 485, in front of Piper Glen. He’s well-conceled from traffic due to the large trees, and winding curves, in both directions. By the time you see the unit, it’s too late to slow down. IT’S 35mph on that part of Rea Rd…SLOW DOWN!
Rea Road and Audry Kell, just before the Union County Line
A County Trooper has been tagging drivers along this 4 lane highway through undeveloped fields. Speed limit is 45, but the average speed is about 60. Trooper sits just over a slight hill, in a small pull off, just before a small housing community.
Independance between I-485 and Albemarle
Speed limit begins at 50 mph, goes to 55 mph, then suddently turns to 45. Cops will follow you with VASCAR. If they pull you over in the 55 mph zone, they will ticket you for xx mph in a 50 saying they had you in the 50 zone earlier. Hope they don’t get you in the 45 mph zone. they especially like Saturday mornings.
The Plaza, near Van Landingham
Cars will occasionally be parked in the median running radar and possibly laser. There are a lot of trees, so the cars are hard to spot. I have seen them running radar in both directions. Between Central Ave. and Parkwood/Plaza intersection.
WT Harris between Sugar Creek Rd and I-85
State Troopers have their lights off just waiting for somebody to speed right by.
