Greensboro, North Carolina Speed Traps
Groomtown Road near US Highway 62
On Groomtown Road between Hwy 62 and Kivett Drive. At times four to Six patrol cars wait at the bridge. Blind spot coming from both directions. Patrol cars facing in both directions. Officers flag you down as you approach the bridge. On occasion one unit waits at the water treatment plant and from a distance you cannot tell it is a police car. No posted speed limit at all on this road for miles coming to Greensboro from the Trinity, NC Randolph County area.
Rankin Mill Road near Huffine Mille Road
Usually park in the walking park parking lot waiting for people coming off a back road. Speed limit is 45 and well marked…and at that point it will turn into 35 shortly after. When you come up to where they are sitting, you have no idea until you get to that point because of trees
Wendover Avenue near Market Street
I’m surprised this one was not already on the list. On Wendover anywhere from Friendly Center to south and west of Market Street, sometimes as far as Clifton. Most often umarked cars and motorcycles, usually a team of 2. Posted at 45 mph, most people do 55, and it is often safe as high as 65. All of us locals know this, and know to stay with the flow of the traffic. But for you out-of-towners, if the road is moving at 45, you’d best not pass!
Vandalia Street near Rehobeth Church Street
Officers set up under the over pass bridge on the median the last week of each month. Posted speed limit is 35 trafic is seldom that slow. Vandalia between Rehobeth Church and Four Seasons Blvd is a four lane with raised concrete median, there are no side streets entering the east bound lane. Interesting that this street is only worked during the last week of each month. Quota’s ?
New Garden Road near Hobbs Road
Police park on the grass behind the sign for Jefferson Elemetary School (blocking view of police car). Watch it during school hours, but they patrol there day and night.
