Wilmington, North Carolina Speed Traps
Interstate 40 east near Exit Number Gordon Road
Follow the speed limit as you drive east on I-40 into Wilmington. As you approach the Gordon Road Exit, deputies or troopers are waiting in the grass median. I pass this location daily and it’s highly enforced. Occasionally, the new SABLE helicopter will play part in the enforcement. The helicopter will run radar and the deputy or trooper will be waitng down the road. It’s entertaining for the locals.
N.Third Street near Harnett Street
Motorcycle cops sit along N.Third street, most of the time at a business then they have a unmarked car call the vehicles in, then they do the stop.

Evry Sunday there’s a state trooper ( marked Impala without a lightbar ) sometimes it’s a crown vic. with or without lights but sunday mornings until dawn he is out for speeders pulling 6 cars within an hour working from College rd to Independence Rd.

Interstate 40 near Interstate 140
Various law enforement agencies with jurisdiction seem to rotate enforcement at the intersection of I 140 and I 40 just west of Wilmington. Traffic headed east will be clocked by vehicles parked in the median near the overpass structure, somewhat hidden by the differnce in grades of east and westbound lanes. Watch the end of the month here! Do not exceed 8 mph over posted speed limit.
