Kent, Ohio Speed Traps
State Highway 59 near Near Kent/Stow Border
Just west of the Kent Car Strip near the Kent/Stow border both police departments sit in private/business driveways. One is better off on the Stow side since it is 35 MPH while on the Kent side it is 25 MPH. A trap for the impatient leaving Kent and for those not slowing down to Kent’s ridiculous speed limit.
State Highway 59 near On Bridge East of Kent Car Strip
This particular trap is actually very dangerous for the Kent police to perform and I believe puts their own safety in jeopardy by doing this. They will park their patrol car on the right lane on the downward side of the bridge heading west towards the car strip at an angle outward into the lane. By performing this manuver it is entirely possible for a serious accident to occur. The safer but more cunning trap they set up is at the AWTI Transmission Shop whereby the speed limit drops from 35 MPH to 25 MPH at the intersection immediately at the bottom of the bridge.
State Route 57 near Fishcreek Road
Route 57, where the road crosses from Stow into Kent, is a four lane road, but reduces to a 25MPH zone once you hit the Kent border. The police regularly sit just beyond the border and nab those not slowing down in time.
State Route 43 near Theodore Roosevelt Highschool
I think State Route 43 in general is awful. The whole road (from downtown Kent out to Twin Lakes) is laced with Police. Be on the look out at all times of the day, you WILL get stuck if you do more than 5 over, guranteed.
ST RT 59
beware coming east into the city from stow. speed limit drops to 25! they also hide 1/2 mile ahead in all of the car lots. this whole town is ridiculous but especially on 59.take it to court if you can-plaed not guilty. prosecutor will amend it to equipment violation, no headlight or taillight but are going to stick you with the fine
