Both Directions on BA Expressway near Detroit to Utica Avenue

Tulsa, OklahomaOct 10, 20070 Comments

The entire BA Expwy coming into and out of downtown Tulsa is heavily watched by police because of the 55 mph limit in that area. Marked vehicles & unmarked vehicles are patrolling there almost daily. Most unmarked vehicles are blue or white Chryslers with tinted windows. Recently I saw a white CHEVY TAHOE with lights on & someone pulled over. They are really getting sneaky in disguising the police vehicles. That being said, this is a dangerous part of downtown and caution should be used by following the speed limit anyway. The days of black & white with flashing lights are over, folks! Mind your speed, or you will have to pay heavily!

State Highway 51 near US Highway 75

Tulsa, OklahomaSep 11, 20070 Comments

The stretch of Highway 51 a.k.a. Broken Arrow Expressway from the 15th street curve to the Highway 75 interchange is a well-known speedtrap. The limit is 55mph through that section and enforcement has increased over the last few years. Officers will often sit in the lowest elevation between the two landmarks on the B.A. Expressway (east- and westbound) or under the bridge at the interchange (almost always eastbound). Highway patrol will also camp out on Highway 75 northbound just north of the interchange – watch for a motorcycle with Lidar.
Enforcement vehicles include marked Crown Vics and Chargers as well as dark grey unmarked Chargers, white unmarked front wheel drive Impalas and unmarked Crown Vics in one of several municipal-looking colors. Look for red and blue lenses in a Charger’s fog lights – hard to see but a sure giveaway. Unmarked Crown Vics are easier to spot – their auxiliary red and blue flashers conspicuously sit on the rear deck just inside the window. The Impalas often have a similar setup. Highway patrol and local cops use motorcycles as well; the latter wear gold helmets.
