Aloha, Oregon Speed Traps
SW 170th Ave & SW Farmington Rd
Washington County Deputy parked near the transformer, pointed at 170th, just north of the intersection. From that spot, the deputy could be radaring either Farmington just west of the intersection, or 170th.
State Highway 8 near 170th Avenue
(This is a heavily traveled state highway within an urban area, with a usually posted speed of 45 MPH, decreasing to 35 MPH in the main city center/congested areas.)As you travel east on Tualatin Valley Highway (State Hwy 8) from 185th Ave. towards 170th Ave., there is a crosswalk at about 178th Ave. The posted speed is 35 MPH (beginning a few blocks to the west of 185th Ave.) and a 35 MPH speed sign is posted just before the crosswalk. After the crosswalk the speed increases to 45 MPH. The sign is located approximately 200 feet before 174th Ave., and clearly visible after passing the crosswalk. A police officer will park in a vacant lot next to the Shell station, on the north side of T.V.Hwy — directly across from the 45 MPH sign — and aim his laser gun west, at eastbound traffic. He will then cite drivers for exceding the 35 MPH speed. When I took my ticket to court the judge told me that it is not legal to increase one’s speed until actually Passing the 45 MPH sign.
