Beaverton, Oregon Speed Traps
NW Cornell Road near 13800 Block
All day all time school zone — $237 fine.
Sign at beginning of zone is partially obscured by a tree branch and is in front of a shopping center with a public swimming pool across the street. The school property is over 1/4 mile long and I had no idea I was driving by a school until well into the school zone. There were no pedestrians present in the whole stretch. The location of the photo radar van stated in the citation is near the beginning of the zone. There is a second school zone sign after the van which I did see. (Still no students at 10 am.)
5th Street near Between Hall and Lombard Streets
Its right by a school and the library, but the tricky thing is its 20mph all the time versus the other school zones around town where there are certain times of day that the school zone speed limit is in effect. Not sure where they park the van for the photo radar setup, but ticket read the 12200 block of 5th.
Note…it is a huge fine ticket, so be careful. Stinks getting that stupid letter in the mail, lemme tell you.
SW 107th Avenue near Canyon / Beaverton-Hillsdale Road
SW 107th Ave connects Canyon Road with Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. This is a quiet street with apartment complexes and a church. The posted speed limit is 25 MPH with no speed bumps. There are partially hidden patrol cars that regularly sit in waiting.
Canyon Road near 87th Avenue
Van sits at various locations at various times on Canyon Road and picks off drivers going up and down the hill. I live above Canyon Road and see the van when it is parked below my house. He moves to various location frequently all day.
US Highway Tualatin Valley near 185th Avenue
From about a block west of 185th ave to half a block west of 174th the speed goes from 45, to 35, to 45 again. I got pulled over by a cop in the 45 zone who insisted that it was a 35 zone. I still have to go to court because I wasn’t speeding.
