Milwaukie, Oregon Speed Traps
Milwaukie, OR, northbound on 99E, 10400 block
I got a ticket on May 9, 2012 at 2:41 pm, described as the 10400th block, which, on the inside lane, is sight distance from the 45 speed sign posted, obscured behind a green state highway sign. I happened to be on the outside lane, clocked at 42 mph, closest to the van, and I was snapped, as others, one beside me on the inside lane (not so easy to take a photo there), and others ahead of me, were accelerating faster than I was. I had carefully followed the 30mph limit and thought I was just "keeping up with traffic" at the exit point of the 30 posted. I think this is robbery! I respect posted speeds for safety and ethical reasons, but this IS BEYOND ETHICS! City of Milwaukie, this is such an obvious speed trap, I think you should be ashamed of yourself!
SE McLoughlin Blvd (99E) near the city center
I have recently discovered to my dismay that what Milwaukie, Oregon is famous for is its speed traps (you can check this online at many sites). What this amounts to is legalized, institutionalized, banditry. A situation like this can not exist without corruption in the leadership of the city. Ultimately, it is the people and the business community who are responsible for their government. It is for this reason that I am now boycotting the city of Milwaukie and everything in it.
I will find another dentist; another grocery store and sporting goods store. I will also find other restaurants to eat at, and another place to service my car. The people of Milwaukie may be able to tolerate their dishonest, thieving government, but I won’t.
Their most infamous speed trap is on SE McLoughlin Blvd (99E); a four lane divided highway that runs through the heart of the city. They drop the speed limit to 30 mph for a short section of the road.
