Redmond, Oregon Speed Traps
S Hwy 97 & SE Sisters Ave
Undercover traffic OSP active during weekdays. Morning and afternoons. US 97 corridor between Redmond and Bend is operational area- I most often see just south of Redmond city limits. All undercover units are blue-related colors. Usually a lighter blue or a teal. Known units are a teal charger and a medium blue crown vic. Totally unmarked, often parked perpendicular to the road like they are pulling out to merge. This is a four-lane, no-median section of roadway at 55 mph. Traffic generally travels up to 70 mph without being stopped, though 70 might be pushing it a bit for out-of-state drivers. Anecdotal reports indicate undercover traffic units will drive aggressively to try and cause others to do the same, then make traffic stop. Usually multiple units work this detail together with undercover unit initiating stop and other marked or unmarked units providing immediate backup. Therefore they call them pretext traffic stops" whatever that means."
Redmond Bypass
Speed limits are set due to the bypass is still under construction in some areas. The local, county and state police are watching this area heavily
