Salem, Oregon Speed Traps
I-5 Northbound MP#248
At the end of the downhill segment. OSP will hide at the end of the concrete divider & chainlink on the righthand side (bordering section of parallel access road). Trooper especially likes the night shift. Using "snap" radar.
Saddle Club Rd, SE
Going south on Saddle Club, the officer is waiting in the apartment complex parking lot near Lancaster. It is strange that they would enforce here because the mid-day and afternoon school buses routinely travel 35-40 mph in this 25 mph zone.
Kuebler Blvd.
Since the construction started on Keubler Blvd. almost every morning I have seen SPD trying to hide in the construction zone.
Owens/ River Rd. South
Where River Rd. South becomes Owens. You are going north on River Rd. S. at 45 MPH there is a speed limit reduced sign (usually obscured by tree branches) reducing speed to 25 mph if you don’t slow down from the reduced speed sign before you get to the 25 mph sign there is usually a SPD officer either motorcycle or car there around 7:oo am thru 8oo am (rush hour) giving out tickets to the policemans ball.
Orchard Heights – West Salem
From Wallace Road onto Orchard Heights- As you go down the hill, often times, there is a motorcycle cop hidden in the entrance to the park or across the street at this same intersection. Coming the other direction down this same stretch is no picnic either. The speed limit goes from 40 to 30 going downhill and around a curve. I traveled that road for 15 years and rarely saw a cop, but since the new HighSchool opened it’s a hot spot.
