Bluff Rd Sout. of Hwy 26.
They sit behind a huge tree and usually are watching cars headed North down a very steep hill. Sandy does not appear to reduce these tickets at all. Though they are not honest.

Immediately East of the town of Sandy, HWY 26 is currently a speed trap all the way East to Government Camp.
Clack County RPC and Cycles; Oregon State Patrol RPC and Cycles and on occasion City of Sandy Police RPC’s all work together on this stretch of Hwy nicknamed ‘ Blood Alley ‘.
Speed Limit is 55MPH, but due to construction, confusing signs show temp. limits of 45MPH – then around the next bend one will encounter a 55MPH sign…Beware also that traffic fines are double $ dollar amount on this stretch of Hwy.
Also, beware that there are many pull-offs used for hiding police cars. Recently patrols have been made with unmarked cars. Also recent patrols have been of the saturation variety.
Finally (the only good news) realize that GENERALLY one can travel at speeds of up to 65-70 MPH, provided there is not an active saturation/abatement program in effect. Also, More often than not, RPC’s cruise with their radar guns ‘ON’, meaning there is usually ample warning if you possess a good detector.
US Highway 26
City of Sandy has a low crime rate, so the officers concentrate on traffic enforcement. 55mph highway speeds drop to 45, then 40, then 25. Someone just driving through with light traffic, might not see the signs, and be in for a hefty fine. Heavy tourist area, gateway to ski resorts, etc. Slow down, be careful. You never know when they’re sitting behind a sign somewhere…
