Connellsville, Pennsylvania Speed Traps
Richey Road (Old Route 119), Bullskin Township
Richey Rd is a back road with very little traffic. State Trooper LIVES at this location. He sits at his OWN HOME or across the road in a farmer’s lane using radar pointed at a steep downslope on Richey Road (1/2 mile south of Pennsville Baptist Church). Drivers who never speed tend to pick up speed down that very steep downhill. Local workers, people coming from church, etc are nailed. Resident Trooper is young and arrogant, the gestapo of Richey Road, ticketing those who merely DARE to drive past his home, and as a fundraiser for the state. This is a personal vendetta for this trooper, racking up unfair tickets. Posted speed limit is 40 MPH. The local District Judge (Magistrate) in Connellsville is an ex-cop, who never rules against a "fellow" cop even if there is no actual evidence presented, he believes the trooper’s charges no matter what. They have a lucrative speed trap going which I believe is illegal and I wish Pennsylvania would investigate both the Trooper and Magistrate.
