Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania Speed Traps
on route 611 south
when you pass mt pocono boro heading south on route 611 going downhill the speed limit is 30 mph and cops hide off the road hidden by the sewer plant. many people belief it is 45 mph , but it not until you go further down the hill. Also in the same area down the hill troopers hide off the road, and motorists are coming down that hill and go over the 45 mph.
Rt 611 @ Big Daddy’s Restaurant Rt 611 @ Big Daddy’s Restau
On Rt. 611 at the intersection with the entrance to Mt. Airy Casino. Cops would hide in far side of parking lot of Big Daddy’s Restaurant catching cars exceeding the 45 mph limit going south on Rt. 611. This is at the bottom of a long decline from Main St. in Mt. Pocono. If you take your foot off the gas coming from Mt. Pocono and do not brake on the decline you will easily exceed 45 mph. Big Daddy’s just burned down so the car can hide anymore, but is still present – especially late at night. Over 50 MPH with out of state plates gets you a stop – at least.
State Route 611
Going either north or south on route 611, the speed limit suddenly drops from 55 to 30MPH in the town part with the little shops and businesses, just saw a cruiser parked on the northbound side of 611 in a parking lot obviously looking to catch those who ignored the speed limit drop. The truck speed limit is 20MPH – I passed him twice in 1 hour, both times doing about 38 and I was fine, but I suspect anything over 45 would result in a ticket.
State Highway 380 near Exit Number 23-1
trooper waiting in the numerous turnarounds.Dont let the deserted highway look fool you.before you know it ol’smokey will be in your rearview.
route 940 between I-380 and route 611
The speed limit in the area was brought down to 45 and there is a new traffic light at the Ford dealership which has already caused some serious accidents. If you’re getting onto 940 from 380 heading towards Mt. Pocono about a quarter of a mile later there is an exit and the cops sit there on either the east or west route. If you continue sometimes the cops hide around the new traffic light just after the bridge and befor the Ford dealership. They also like to hang around the Kmart parking lot waiting for people to speed through the lights there. Trust I have first hand experience!
