Scranton, Pennsylvania Speed Traps
Central Scranton Expressway near Providence Road
The cops sit before the providance road exit set back off the road while another chaser car sits ahead by the exit to pull over the car speeding. This happens on both sides of the exspressway inbound and outbound to the center city.Sometimes you could see the chaser car ahead so be aware and slow down when you see that car.
Scranton Expressway near 7th Avenue
The police sit back off of the Expressway as you are approaching the end and entering onto Mulberry Street in a little spot right after the 7th Ave. exit begins. They also sit in the opposite direction in front of the Scranton High School, but this is more noticeable.
SR-307, Between Lake Scranton and Moosic Street
State troopers and city police officers usually park their patrol cars on side streets, pull-offs, or the Lookout on SR-307. They will usually target northbound traffic going down the hill. I sometimes see cars pulled over on Moosic Street, which is at the bottom of SR-307.
Interstate 81 Northbound
Just as you come off the paved section of 81 onto the concrete (3 lanes). The road gradually goes to the right and the State Police sit on the right against the sound barrier. Also just past the Drinker Street exit going north on 81, they sit behind the overpass pillar on the right by the Throop exit. They are usually in an unmarked car with a group of marked cars waiting a little further up by the 380/81 on ramp. Very Sneaky! Always watch the cars ahead of you for abnormal slowing!
