Tatamy, Pennsylvania Speed Traps
Main St and Tatamy Rd (at the gas station)
As the other posters have stated, Main St. in Tatamy is a well known speed trap. There’s only one cop on duty and he generally sits at the gas station, making sure you stop at the stop sign. Or, he sits near the bridge or around 6th to monitor speed. Just this trap alone pays for this guy’s existence, so he he means business. And it’s a small town so he’s always somewhere close. Just drive on Bushkill Rd. and avoid this town entirely.
Kesslersville Road near Victrolic or CIT driveway
Like most traps, it might be a convenient place for the cop to have a cup of coffee, read the paper, or catch-up on paperwork…even nab a mover. I’ve blown by this unit-occupied spot doing 55 in a 45 and never caught his attention. I’ve seen others pass this spot doing 50 and get nailed. For northbound drivers, slowing down here is a good idea anyway since the next bend causes at least 30-40 cars a year to fly off into the woods. Knowing this is a trap, the local folks are reminded of the curve and the out of towners visit the trees…if the Tatamy cop don’t git’em.
Main Street near consolidated storage building
At various times of day, officers sit in the parking lot of the Consolidated Storage building and trap people coming down the hill. Posted speed is 35. Bridge on alternate route is closed so all traffic funneled through town and they exploit it daily
