West Penn, Pennsylvania Speed Traps

Right at the base of the mountain there is a Sovereign Bank. The cops love to hang out in this parking lot and nab speeders as the speed limit drastically drops when you’re heading north into Tamaqua (55mph on the mt to 35mph at the intersection).

Both the local township police and the state police sit in an area approx 1/4 mile north of the traffic light at Rts 309 & 443, hidden from normal view, where there will be at times 2 or 3 of them waiting to nab unsuspecting travelers as the speed limit, from the town of Tamaqua south to where Rt 443 goes east, is an unrealistic, for that area, 45mph
