Williamsport, Pennsylvania Speed Traps

Same state police officer sits on the left coming down the mountain into town. He’s there every morning before 7 a.m.. He’s busting people speeding up trying to get from 2 lanes into one lane in the middle of the work zone coming down the mountain in the town of Williamsport. He gets over a 100 tickets a month… That from my lawyer…

New portable equipment. A small footprint and NO car. Appears to be two 1′ high posts set about 18" apart and a car battery. Must be radio trasmission of speed and almost invisible until you’re on top of it.

I’ve seen 5 patrol cars, marked and unmarked, active at this site. The cars line up at the Foy Ave Southbound on-ramp and pick off the speeders as they go through the trap.

An unmarked silver Chevy Impala (Williamsport Police) sits on the on ramp from the Market Street bridge facing east with several marked Williamsport police chase vehicles just down the road out of sight until it’s too late to see them and then they have you. the Impala can only be seen once you’re past it or from he west bound side of 180. I believe they are using some sort of laser device there are 2 sensors usually placed on either side of the road when the speed trap is set up. The sensors are small and difficult to see (a tripod witha small box and a small antennae on them about 2 feet high). This is the same device used at the other speed traps on 220.
