State Highway 174 near Palmetto Road
Speed limit drops from 50 to 40 just as you cross into Colleton County. It is easy for drivers to miss the sign and one might expect a higher limit in this area. Deputy sheriff regularly sits under a tree off to the side of the road.
Palmetto Boulevard near State Route 174
Beach side road with limit of 35mph. Go a few miles over and expect to get stopped and a ticket. They stop tourists who are unaware since it is a 4 lane road it may be difficult to keep it a 35 unless you are paying close attention to your speed and not looking at the beach and ocean.

Speed limit of 35 mph. HIGHLY enforced 24/7. 6 mph over will get you a citation. Beach-going pedestrians cross over to get to and from the beach constantly. Edisto Beach and Colleton County officers patrol the whole length.
SC 174 at Colleton Country line
Speed limit drops from 50 to 40 along new bike path (which is rarely, if ever, used). Colleton County Deputy Sheriff sits off of the road under a tree. Sign is very visable, but limit is VERY unreasonable.
Entire length of Palmetto Blvd. and Jungle Road.
The Town of Edisto Beach runs a speed trap for the entire length of Palmetto Blvd (starting at the end of SC 174). There is an unmarked blue Dodge Durango that is used to pull vacationers. The trap is used mainly to bring in revenue for the town.
