Greeleyville, South Carolina Speed Traps
Going South on 521
An unmarked car stops me, and declares I was doing 61 in a 35 mph zone.
I explained that was impossible since i had stopoed at the very first store in town to buy water, ice cream, and use the restroom. Officer said he was at the store and saw me go by. Took my license and regitration, came back, said my fine was to be $455.00, but if I did not contest it he would reduce it to 55 in a 35 zone and the fine was $185, with no points deducted.
Did not take long on the internet to find out I was robbed by a Greely City policeman.
Out of state beware !!!!!!
US Highway 17-North
Officer issues ticket for speeding- after no obvious change of speed limit sign.
"It was recently moved"
"Lets make a deal" offers to reduce fine & or increase w/ no points reported to your state.
What a rip-off
State Highway 521
Radar is set up at a gas station coming into Greeleyville from Sumter going south to Georgetown.
US 521 West
They have a field day with tourists passing through to and from the SC coast. In edge of town where most all towns in SC set the limit at 45MPH they have it at 35MPH. No question it’s unfair and uncalled for except to collect revenue. No excuse for this bad PR for the state of SC.
Hwy. 261 north of town
The 35 mph speed limit that is warranted going through the town continues after you make the turn onto the highway leading out of town. Police sit at the MiniMart to snare you.
