Greer, South Carolina Speed Traps
Gibbs Shoals and Dillard Road
Police sit under the trees on Gibbs Shoals Road and run radar pointing up the road toward Suber. I live in that neighborhood and see them there all the time.
Dillard Road near Gibb Shoals Road
Police like to sit in the neighborhood entrances and near the bridge (at the bottom of hill) Speed limit is only 30mph, speeds of 50mph are easily reached if not on the brakes while going downhill towards the bridge.
S. Buncombe Road near New Alan Bennet Hospital
Police officer sits in an unmarked car across from the new Alan Bennet Memorial hospital. You do not see them until you crest the hill and then it is too late.
US Highway 14 near GSP airport
The speed limit on highway 14 passing the airport is different in each direction. One way it is 40mph and the other direction it is 45mph. People are always speeding along that stretch of road. The officier will even do a U-turn if he is travelling in the other direction to pull you over.
State Highway 14 near US Highway I-85
On the SIX Lane portion of Northbound Hwy 14, the speed limit drops to 40MPH around the GSP Airport runway extension. There are no intersections and both directions of traffic dip into a valley where even coasting will run your speed up to 50MPH. Un-marked Greer Police Units are mobile and tag oncoming cars while driving in the opposing lanes. Today there were THREE of them with cars stopped in this stretch of Highway. It’s a nuisance and a REVENUE thing! Normal traffic flow in this six lane parkway should be at LEAST 55MPH.
