Lancaster, South Carolina Speed Traps
W. Meeting Street into Riverside Rd.
I myself have gotten a ticket here and travel this road everyday. Seen many others getting one. The speed turns from 25 to 45 in about a 1/2 miles distance from La Macetas past Good Time Charlies. And I caught myself going 55 to 60 numerous times. Watch your lead feet!!! Don’t make the mistake I did!!!
Hwy. 9 Bypass
Every single city police car has radar. With radar, the Police Dept. has become a profit center. Bypass posted speed limit is 45mph. They generally allow up to 7 mph over speed limit but no more.
North Main Street near State Route
City police will sit in the parking lot of the CheckMax behind the shrubs with RADAR pointing to the bridge over SC9/US521 overpass. Speed changes just before bridge from 45 to 35 MPH. Used to be a trap because the speed sign used to be obscured by a large magnolia tree. Right after I paid my fine the tree was trimmed back. Police will sit at the ChackMax with no pattern and can be there any day of the week.
Arch Street near HWY 9 Bypass
Exiting off of the HWY 521/9 Bypass onto Westbound Arch Street towards downtown Lancaster the speed limit drops drastically as you come down the hill and cross into city limits. Police patrol this area regularly and nail people coasting down the hill as they cross the speed limit sign.
