Liberty, South Carolina Speed Traps
Highway 178 E (going toward Anderson)
Outside the city limits, going toward Anderson on US Hwy 178, the speed limit drops from 55 to 45. Not sure why the need for the drop there, but I don’t make the rules. On occasion, there is an officer (either county or HP), who will be at Golden Grove Wesleyan Church or some of the other commercial/public places in that area. I was lucky and got a warning instead of a ticket, but just be aware that sometimes they are there …. and if they are at the church, they will pull out before you even see them (in order to get right behind you)……
Highway 178
Everywhere!!!! Just plain and simple, Liberty has very little crime and plenty of police officers to write tickets, it is their meal tickets for the town income, just added two more officers as well. Regardless of where you are in this town, be aware of quick speed limit changes, they sit regularly on Hwy 178 between the Spinx and the intersection at Hwy 93, probably about 10 different spots along that 2 mile or so route!
