Lobeco is a Township in Beaufort County. The area is a 4 lane divided highway. It is sparsely populated with a few houses and businesses most set back well off the road. The rest is farmland. For appx 3 miles the speed limit is 50 mph. This area could safely be travelled at 70 as it is that open. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Dept and the SC Highway Patrol absolutely muder people on this stretch. You are pretty safe at 55, but over that watch out. The road is straight for this entire stretch and that poses a problem too. The cops can see a car coming for a mile or more. By the time you see them (even the marked ones) its too late. They pop you with instant on RADAR and you’re had. And don’t even waste your time going to court. The judge will let you know she lives on this stretch and your recklessness could have killed her granddaughter if she had been crossing the street. They all know each other in that township, so asking for a jury trial is a waste of time too. You are guilty even before you present your case.
