North Augusta, South Carolina Speed Traps
US Highway Aiken-Augusta
When you are coming into North Augusta the speed limit quickly drops to 45. The cops sit on both sides of the highway so they can catch people coming across the river.
State Highway 1 near Just before the GA border
The posted speed limit is 45mph, while the prevailing traffic speed is around 70 during most lower-traffic times. They generally go after the slowest speeder, so either be in front of someone going a bit slower than you or watch the sides of the road carefully. There’s not a lot of places to hide, so usually this is only a speed trap at night. They like to hide in some of the driveways directly abutting the highway.

Hwy 1 coming from Augusta where the construction of the extension of I-520 is going on. NAPS usually have at least once officer on this route, but sometimes have more. City limits end just a little past this, but don’t be fooled, they can still come after you, have jurisdiction for up to two miles past city limits. Also, there are occasional citings of Aiken County and SCHP here also, they usually don’t come into city limits though. This means once you think you’ve safely made it through, think again. North Augsuta loves writing tickets, so slow down!
