Salley, South Carolina Speed Traps
State Highway 394 near East Side of Salley, East end of town, heading east
On the east end of Salley, there are no speed signs on the eastbound side. It is a rather small town; the east side is very sparsely populated, and the town limits extend some considerable distance. It looks like country (country road speed limit in SC is 55). At a curve, about 1/4 mi. from the east city limits, a police car sets up on the left (south) side of the road. Just beyond him, there is a 30 mph sign. Before seeing the sign, you’re on top of the cop.
The next wide shoulder (after he pulls you over) is a couple of hundred yards past the 30 mph sign. Just ahead on the right is a 55 mph sign. 47 mph cost me $180 and 4 points.
