Shaw, South Carolina Speed Traps

Speed measuring done by the Sumter PD and Sumter Sheriff’s Office on Frierson Road, at the 35 mph zone, near Shaw Furniture and Skate Inn, across from Shaw AFB’s North Gate. Although this area is almost nine miles outside of the Sumter city limits, the city has "annexed" that part of Shaw AFB for it census and tax purposes and can legally run radar there, because it falls within the purview of their city limits. Expect SPD and SCSO to use laser, too. Shaw AFB’s Security Forces Police cannot pull anyone over on Frierson Road outside of the base, because doing so would violate federal law and the "Posse Comitatus," subjecting the Air Force and/or the Security Forces patrolman to a civil lawsuit for violation of rights.
