Spartanburg, South Carolina Speed Traps
US Highway I-85 near State Route Hwy 14
I-85 They sit under the bridge between Hwy 101 and Hwy 14 and will clock you as you crest the hill going southbound.
W.O. Ezell Boulevard near Baltimore Street
Police sit in medium and along side of road to ticket motorist in either directions. Speed limit drops from 40 miles to 35 miles as you clear the hill.
Hwy 295 (Southport Rd) near Reidville Rd (newly expanded 4 lane)
The speed limit for 295 is absurdly low in this area (40) especially given the interstate like feel of the highway. Sitting just behind a hill coming towards Reidville Rd — state troops (marked and unmarked) love to sit in the median. You don’t see them until it’s too late. Also, Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Dept. loves to run speed traps all down 295 until you reach Hardees late at night.
I-85 at exit for USCS campus (road176)
At any time of day there is SC State patrol, green and blue comaro’s and marked crown vics and marked camaros. They sit at the top of both highway entrance ramps, the worst time of day is around 5pm to 6pm.
Interstate Highway 85 (8 lane section, 1 mile straight near Spartanburg)
