West Columbia, South Carolina Speed Traps
Hwy 1 and Hwy 12 (Jarvis Klapman Blvd)
Traveling on Hwy 1 where 12 bears left, radar constantly sits in an old mobile home lot, the speed limit changes there because of a school crossing nearby and it is poorly posted because it’s a large intersection. WCPD will often run radar at that location catching those still running 45 in a short 25 mph school crossing zone.
Highway 12 (Jarvis Klapman Blvd)
If you’re coming across the Taylor St. bridge from Columbia into West Columbia, often there will be cop car sitting in the median waiting for speeders (nighttime especially). Also, if you are traveling towards Columbia on Hwy 12, sometimes they will be pointed in your direction, waiting for people to speed up to cross the bridge.
Columbia Metropolitan Airport
Police sitting where the speed limit changes from a higher speed limit too a lower one. Usually first stop is a verbal warning. I was stopped for 41 in a 35 where the speed limit changed from 40 too 35
