Elk Point, South Dakota Speed Traps

leaving town to the south, speed signs gradually increase to 45mph from 25mph and then as it gets more rural, it suddenly drops to 25mph near interstate 29 on ramp. The police sit in dark driveway. there are no residential houses on this rural street.

Exit off of I-29, and head north into Elk Point, and the first speed limit sign you will pass is listed at 45 mph. However, a sign south of the interchange says the true speed limit coming off the exit is 25 mph! Watch for hiding places at the bottom of the hill, especially at night on weekends.
