211, both sides of Shenandoah River
State Troopers most often set up just east of the South Fork, on 211. They usually sit about a quarter mile east of the river, up the hill from the river, in the cut in the median near the top of the hill. On occasion, they set up a bit east of there, in the grass on the right side, for eastbound traffic heading toward Luray. They also sit in cut in the median near the bottom of the hill, immediately east of the river. There, they usually catch truckers for truck inspections. I’ve also seen a trooper occasionally sitting on the eastbound traffic side just west of the river, hiding in a driveway maybe a couple hundred yards from the river, hidden by rising terrain on either side of the driveway.
