Speed limit through here is normally 30mph. However, the section between 377 and the Watauga fire station is posted as a school zone 7am to 9am and 2pm to 4pm. There is a good sized dip in the middle of this stretch and it is impossible to avoid going over 30 without using your brakes. 30mph is ridiculous but the 20mph school would be totally understandable except in my 4 years of driving this area I have NEVER seen a person cross Basswood!. Watauga police make a lot of traffic stops but this particular street adds a good deal of revenue to the city.
