Carolina Forest Middle School road off of Hwy. 501
As you enter the street from Hwy 501, the speed limit is posted at 35 mph. About 0.05 miles after that sign, there is a 25 mph sign posted. 0.1 miles after that sign, there is a school zone (25 mph) sign posted. Immediately after the middle school there is another 25 mph sign posted entering the residential area. That first 35 mph sign causes confusion. Because there is a school zone, and there is nothing but trees until you reach that school zone, it is easy to mistake that stretch of road for 35 mph, and then the school zone and residential are as 25 mph. However, the officers waiting in the dark in a cleard part of those trees immediately after the school going back toward Hwy 501 from the residential area will tell you that the entire road is 25 mph all the time. This is clearly a speed trap, by admission of the very officer who gave me the ticket and responded with a "yes" when asked if the reason they were parked there is to give unsespecting motorists a speeding ticket. Therefore, there is absolutely no reason to have the speed posted at 35 mph as you first enter the street from Hwy 501, especially not for a 0.05 mile stretch (unless you wanted to cause confusion and pass out tickets left and right, which they have done since I’ve been here, which is almost two months).
