East bound on Highway 1
Just east of St. Charles on Highway 1, the speed reduces from 55 to 45 min in less than 500 feet. The local city policeman (they only have one folks) sits eastbound on the side of the road just pass the 45 mph sign. Be aware, very aware.. this guy is serious. He will pull you over in a heart-beat and give you a ticket.

I agree, be very aware. If you go 15 MPH over the speed limit, you will get a ticket. If you go 15 MPH over the speed limit, you should get a ticket. I have an idea, go the speed limit. I promise if you go the speed limit you WONT get a ticket. Also, there is NO 45 MPH sign 500 feet near a 55MPH in St. Charles. Please know what you are talking about. You should have to put the speed you were going & how fast you SHOULD have been going to post.
What makes St. Charles a speed trap (and an abuse of careful drives), in my opinion, is that there is no obvious indication that you are in a town along this stretch of highway, just woods and a single grocery station. It is easy to miss the speed limit sign if you are not looking for it, especially if the sun is your face.
