Emigrant in front of Hawthorne School (between 13th and 15th)
Taking up a full block, Hawthorne school is between SW 13th and SW 15th St and SW Emigrant and SW Frazier. The speed trap is on Emigrant (a one-way street) and Pendleton police consider drivers fair game after they cross the railroad tracks on Emigrant near 12th st.
It’s considered a speed trap because 20MPH signs are posted AFTER the school on Emigrant and near the railroad tracks, but not just before the school. There are no blinking lights to remind you of your speed and it’s easy to get a ticket if you’re going regular speed. So, after the railroad tracks, so slow down to 20 – for 2 blocks – or get a $170 ticket.
