Fairfax Avenue near Slauson Avenue
Not exactly a speed trap, but a high ticket area. There is a fire station on the nw corner of Fairfax & Slauson. Highway patrolmen park just behind the station all day out of view and wait for people to pull up over writing on the street that says "Keep Clear." What usually happens is the light turns red and you have already pulled up over area, becuase of paying attention to signal, rather than the writing on the road. If the light turns red before you clear that area with the writing, then you are caught in violation of the sign. There is also a very small sign in black and white posted to the left of the road, but you are on the right side of the road – so if you do not happen to look to your left while driving forward, you will also miss that warning. The ticket for this violation when I got it in early 2006 was $295.
